The Mongolian Empire
The Mongols started out as a bunch of nomadic tribes, but were united under one leader - Genghs Khan. The nomadic tribes were based around livestock, and the Mongols would move based on their animal's graizing needs. They were extremely good at riding horses, beacuase they used the to help herd thier livestock. They also invented the sturup, whcich made it even easier to ride horses. This helped them hugely when war came.

Genghis Khan was a great strategist who united all the tribes and formed the first Khanate. A khan is a ruler who rules a khanate, so his name makes sense. Through Genghis, the mongolian people were able to accomplish many things through war. This was also attributed to other things that the mongols had, that other groups did not. These things include their silk underwear (it supposededly helps to diflect and/or weaken blows), their impressive armor, and the yurts. A yurt is a caravan that supports and carries houses. The mongols would move to somewhere and then suddenly have a city there. This was great for three reasons. One, counterattacks on the mongols had to be more direct. Two, they could easily treat wounded soldiers because thet were right next to the battle field. Three, it boosted the soldiers morale to not be fighting so far from home.
The mogols would stop at nothing for a victory, and were not afraid to use scare tactics or cruelty. They were also extremely disciplined and always stood ranks. After the mogols had conquered many terrirtories, what some call the Pax Mongolica took place. Pac Mongolica means the mogolian peace, and was created by the gauruntee of safe trade in thier provinces. That boosted their economy enormously.
After all of the conquering, each section of the mogols was different and differently influenced cultures. They couldn't see the similarity that used to bind them together and they broke up into 4 different Khanates based on their new cultures and/or languages.
